The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, according to royal officials.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.
Father and son were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
The King has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.
Royal sources have described the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as assuming an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were greeted guests including conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This participation featured addresses together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Connection
The COP30 summit will coincide with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the climate conference on November 6th.
Last week the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".
Monarch's Environmental Record
The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"I have spent a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers facing us over planetary heating, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
