NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle
In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos clinched a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Display Wins Game
Even with recording nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards during the contest.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Record Difficulties for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
Fields struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn stated following the contest.
