New England Match Best Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Against Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five scores this season
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Quarterback Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to cap the New York's first possession
But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
