Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have found plenty of engaging indie games. Yet, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is actually a turd striving to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is easy to grasp: you only need a single jump button. Across one hundred fifty levels, encounter boss fights and visit a store to buy customizations for your fecal avatar.
Execute your actions with caution, as a error means restarting the level. Leap off bubbles to propel yourself higher, cross fragile platforms, and touch triggers to reveal new areas. Gather currency to purchase tougher game content where things gets crazy.
Graphically, the demo shows off vibrant environments and an amazing music score. The simple graphics featuring moving basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although hard to recall previous releases where you control a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. Naturally, this theme appears extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive recognition, including being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on computers on November 19.
