Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre crossover event that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the official release, "An unusual encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Changes
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Material
Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
